Marcos and Stanislas Wawrinka made a winning start to their doubles campaign at the Legg Mason Tennis Classic by defeating Wimbledon runners-up Robert Lindstedt and Horia Tecau 4-6, 6-4, 10-8 Monday at the ATP World Tour 500 hard-court tournament in Washington D.C.
Marcos and Wawrinka won just two points more than their opponents as they clinched victory in 84 minutes; each team broke serve once in the match.
In the quarter-finals, Marcos and Wawrinka will face either fourth seeds Julian Knowle and Andy Ram or Australian wild cards Nathan Healey and Lleyton Hewitt.
