Marcos will welcome in 2012 in Brisbane, where he is preparing to play the Brisbane International, which begins on Sunday.
The draw for the ATP World Tour 250 hard-court tournament was made on Saturday morning. Unseeded, Marcos faces American Ryan Harrison in the first round and is likely to face fifth seed Kei Nishikori in the second round.
Marcos also features in the doubles draw in Brisbane, pairing up with World No. 4 Andy Murray for the first time. They will open their campaign on Sunday when they face Santiago Giraldo and Nishikori in the fourth and final match on Pat Rafter Arena. Play begins at 10:30am local time (GMT +10hours).
