Marcos lost to Sergiy Stakhovsky in three very competitive sets in the Pilot Pen Tennis quarter-finals yesterday. After the sheer number of games Marcos has played recently, Stakhovsky managed to capitalise and win in a third set tie-break, 5-7, 6-1, 7-6(4). This brought to an end Marcos’ attempt to win in New Haven, but he has continued his excellent form in the US Open Series, where he has reached the quarter-finals or better in 4 out of 5 tournaments. Unfortunately, Marcos has fallen just short of winning the US Open Series.

However, on the day Marcos learnt that he will play Arnaud Clement in the first round at Flushing Meadows, he is free to turn all his energies into preparing to go as far as he can at the US Open. It’s a tournament Marcos can go into coursing with confidence after his performances on American hard court, despite his difficult draw at Flushing Meadows.

After another good week, Marcos now will have a few days rest to recover mentally and physically before the start of the final Slam of the year, where he will need all the support his outstanding fans can give him so he can carry on winning!
