Marcos will open his campaign at the Internazionali BNL d’Italia on Monday against Latvian Ernests Gulbis.
Marcos is playing in his second ATP World Tour clay-court tournament of the season and will take heart from the 4-0 career lead he holds over World No. 44 Gulbis. The pair last met in the first round of the Sony Ericsson Open in Miami last year, when Marcos surrendered just four games in a comfortable victory.
Marcos vs. Gulbis: Head-to-Head
The 21-year-old Gulbis has improved a lot since then, though, highlighted by winning his first ATP World Tour title in Delray Beach in February. He also reached the semi-finals in Memphis and the quarter-finals in Doha earlier this year. He comes into the match on the back of a quarter-final appearance at last week’s Barcelona Open BancSabadell.
The match has been given Center Court billing on Monday in Rome, with play due to start for the day at 1pm local time (2pm Cyprus). Check out the full order of play here.
