Marcos cruised into the second round of the If Stockholm Open on Tuesday as he defeated upcoming Belgian David Goffin 6-4, 6-2.
Goffin made a fast start, breaking Marcos in the first game. Marcos quickly hit back though and levelled in the sixth game before breaking Goffin again to take the opener. He broke the No. 45-ranked Goffin twice more in the second set to seal victory in 73 minutes. Marcos hit nine aces and won 70 per cent of points on his serve.
Marcos goes onto face Colombian Alejandro Falla, who saved one match point in a three-set win over Jan Hajek. The match will be played on Thursday in Stockholm.
