Marcos Rings In New Stuttgart Era

Sunday, 07 June, 2015

Marcos will help welcome a new era at the MercedesCup next week, with the ATP World Tour 250 event in Stuttgart set to transition from clay to grass. He opens against the Czech Republic's Lukas Rosol and could potentially face top seed Rafael Nadal in the second round.

Marcos is 1-1 against Rosol, with their most recent meeting coming on the grass of Queen's Club in London three years ago. He will look to build on a 36-25 win-loss record on the surface on the ATP World Tour and an 8-7 overall mark in 2015.

Marcos has enjoyed some of the best results on his career on grass, reaching the Wimbledon semi-finals in 2006, the quarter-finals in 2007 and finishing runner-up in Halle in 2007. At No. 59 in the Emirates ATP Rankings, he is hoping a good run in June will help to kick start a rankings resurgence.

The seeds in Marcos' half of the draw include No. 1 Nadal, No. 4 Gael Monfils, No. 5 Bernard Tomic and No. 6 Philipp Kohlschreiber.
