Marcos is competing this week at the Rakuten Japan Open Tennis Championships in Tokyo, where he is due to face top seed Juan Martin del Potro in the first round.
Marcos has played del Potro four times before, splitting the head-to-head at 2-2. Del Potro won their most recent encounter in a third-set tie-break in Dubai earlier this year. World No. 7 del Potro is playing his first tournament since a surprise second-round loss to Lleyton Hewitt in the second round of the US Open last month.
