Marcos Falls In Atlanta Final, Returns To Winston-Salem Next

Monday, 03 August, 2015

Making his first appearance in an ATP World Tour final since 2011, Marcos fell to John Isner 6-3, 6-3 at the BB&T Atlanta Open on Sunday.

Isner needed just over an hour to secure victory, concluding Marcos' stunning week on the hard courts of Atlanta. Marcos was seeking to win his first ATP title since 2010.

"I played five matches this week…the good thing is that it’s nothing serious,” Marcos said, explaining that he has an inflamed tendon. "I didn't play my best tennis this week but I'm pretty happy with my mental side, I found ways to win."

Marcos will next play at the Citi Open in Washington, D.C. - an ATP World Tour 500 event. He owns an 8-3 record in Washington, including a run to the final in 2010, falling to David Nalbandian. Marcos opens against qualifier Guido Pella.
