Following more checks on Marcos’ right shoulder injury, there is good news to report. He will need only 5-6 days of rest for the injury to heal and expects to be able to return to the court in time for the ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament, beginning in Rotterdam on 8th February.
Marcos sustained the injury during a remarkable five-set victory over David Ferrer in the second round of the Australian Open, when he came back from two sets and a break down in searing temperatures to prevail in four hours and nine minutes.
Against Hewitt in the third round on Saturday evening, the injury clearly impeded Marcos when he attempted to serve hard or drive through with his forehand and he was forced to retire after only a set and a half.
